Submission for the 1-BIT JAM #4

Strata is an simulation game inspired by cellular automata like Conway's Game of Life

Strata is a Tower, composed of several Stratum, each with a different cell behavior and productivity/upkeep. The only action you can take as player is to place new cells by clicking empty spots and see how they affect the system. Add too many cells and they'll die due to overpopulation. Too little? Loneliness. Add too many cells with onerous upkeep and the world may take generations to recover

Above all, experiment!

There's no going wrong, no winning or losing. There's only what you want your Strata to be

Although there are no gameplay differences between the web and native versions, the native versions look and sound WAY better, so I encourage you to give them a go

Thanks! You use the mouse to add cells, click the empty squares

If you want to try to “beat” the game (you can’t really beat the game, it’s endless), notice how when you add cells, the numbers on the left change. Each cell consumes X resources (upkeep) and produce Y resources (production) per day (the time is on the bottom right)

On the left you have the stats for the Stratum you’re on, and on the right the stats for the entire tower. Try to keep your Balance (the difference between your upkeep and your production) positive!

Each floor has different upkeep/production per cell, so experiment to see what works best

with its stunning visuals and relaxing gameplay,  this game gives me a peaceful sense of accepting life's flow <3

Oh wow, that is high praise! Thanks a lot! I’m really glad that’s how it made you feel. Life always finds a way, despite the top two floors!

Super unique idea for a game, and the game works so well too :)

Thanks mate, I appreciate it!
